Q: What does College Funding Advisors (CFA) do?

A:  CFA advises parents of college-bound high school students regarding the financing of a college education.  We educate parents on how this isn’t just a college funding problem – it’s also a cash flow and retirement problem — and we want to make sure that college for ALL of your children gets paid for comfortably and that all other financial goals are not left on the sidelines.  We offer a wide array of services based on a family’s specific situation.  For a list of all the services we provide, click here for  “client services” or please feel free to contact us at (530) 554-2308.

Q: What are some examples of things CFA advises parents about?

A:  Since 90% of those parents who do qualify for Financial Aid still have a significant family contribution (EFC) that must come out of their pocket; we advise these parents (plus those parents who do not qualify for any aid and must totally pay for college themselves), as follows:

• How to pay for college on a tax-favored basis

• What are the best sources of money for their particular situation.

• How to choose the colleges that will give them the best chance of getting funding, with more Free money and less loans.

• How to negotiate with a college to get the best financial package.

• How to set up their own finances to be eligible for more aid.

• How to make sure everything gets done 100% accurately and on-time to protect yourself from being overlooked for grants, scholarships and low interest loans.

• and much more.

Q: How does CFA do this?

A: We have spent countless hours of training familiarizing ourselves with all of the college funding & financial aid rules and regulations so that we are now experts in the college funding arena.  This is our niche & we strive to offer the most comprehensive college funding service available.

We offer the community general information by providing Free workshops to the public which are held throughout the year in community centers, public libraries, adult education courses, park and recreation catalogs, etc.  These workshops are general in nature and seeing that we can’t cover everyone’s personal situation at the workshop, every attendee is eligible for a Free personal consultation to cover their individual college funding situation.

This personal consultation normally costs $175 for a non-workshop attendee, but for those who attend a workshop, we wave the fee and will spend an hour with you one-on-one to discuss your personal situation at no charge.

Q: Are their any charges for CFA services?

A: Yes; after the free workshop & consultation, if the parents would like to retain CFA and have them handle their college funding situation for them, there is a fee based on the level of service they want performed.

Some people want our help in 1 or 2 areas and others – who want absolutely nothing to do with the financial aid nightmare - want us to handle everything for them.  That decision is entirely yours.  We can’t work with everyone and we are extremely upfront and will tell you after that free consultation if we feel we can help you or not.  We will only take on a new client if we feel that we can dramatically make an impact on the family’s situation.

If you do choose to work with us, CFA does offer a 100% money-back guarantee that if our services do not meet your expectations, we will fully refund every dollar that you have paid us. (no fine print, no questions, no hassles, etc…)  If you are not fully satisfied with our services, we feel that we have not done our job and therefore, do not deserve to have you as a client.

Q: When should a parent attend one of these workshops?

A: No later than their child’s junior year in high school but ideally before the end of the sophomore year in high school.  If your child is a senior in high school and you have not applied for financial aid yet, these workshops are a must for you too!
